Our brief was to create friendly family warmth within our client’s new modern farmhouse. Blending old and new, we capitalized on the clean-lined architecture and magnificent mountain views by honoring scale, using updated traditional forms and liberal shots of harmonious color. Formal spaces open onto more family-oriented areas, making coordination between the rooms an important aspect of the design. Forgiving yet elegant fabrics and finishes were a necessity since they entertain frequently and wanted easy care without sacrificing good looks.
